Why I’m Running

  • Welcome!

Hi there! My name is Lily Korolkoff, and I am running for Town Board in Woodstock, N.Y.

Like many of us, I am a little frustrated with the direction our town is going in. I am a mother, a small business owner, and a renter in this town, and my family and I are often directly affected by the issues facing so many of us, and I understand how interconnected these issues often are.

I feel like we need to be doing more to find solutions. We need to think about what we want Woodstock to look like for future generations, and that requires big ideas and fluid communication between residents and their government. A well-informed community, one that is aware of and feels involved with the many processes and decisions a town goes through in making legislative choices, is essential to working together efficiently.

We need to think about what kind of Woodstock we’re passing on to future generations. Tourism, while vital to the local economy, cannot override the needs of residents. We should be investing in making our community a place where families of all economic means can survive, where our seniors and youth can safely navigate our streets and sidewalks, where our emergency personnel, volunteers, artists, musicians, and workers can actually live.

We also need to pay attention to our rich environment and the challenges it faces, whether it be issues related to climate change, overdevelopment, strain on natural resources, or the increasing risks of pollution and water contamination.

I’m not a politician, but I am someone that cares wholeheartedly about all of these issues because I see, feel, and hear about their repercussions every day. If elected, I vow to listen to and fight for your needs, to treat everyone the way they deserve to be treated, and do everything in my power to get the things that need to get done, done.
